Through most of my childhood, I had a best friend named Steven. Steven’s dad had this car that he loved. A ’67 Mustang, to be precise. Using the word “car” seems wrong, because Steven’s dad treated this car like his baby. Regular weekend car washes. Monthly waxings. No food or drink was ever allowed near the beloved vehicle. “Not in the Mustang. Not today boys,” he’d tell Steven and me as we licked our ice cream cones on the way back from lunch. “She’s a classic.”
I never really liked Steven’s dad. But I appreciated his dedication to maintaining his car’s shine and luster. After all, there’s a reason why classics are “classic”. Time-tested quality that can be appreciated by most.
While it’s unlikely that “classic” promotional products will ever receive the same amount of love Steven’s dad gave his ‘Stang, it’s no secret that promotional products are an increasingly effective way of increasing brand awareness. The act of giving a gift, combined with promotional product qualities such as product longevity and usefulness, allow promotional products to cut through the noise. They’re essential to any company or event’s marketing plan. Even Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary thinks so.
Here are three surefire “classic” promotional products that never miss. So without further adieu, my top 3 promotional products are:
(Note: I’m leaving out apparel this time. That’s for a future entry!)
Drinkware is my favorite. Americans are obsessed with coffee and research is suggesting that it may be ripe with health benefits, such as decreased risk of diabetes, lower incidence of Alzheimers, and improved eye sight. And with stores likes Teavana growing in popularity, tea is making a strong resurgence. What better way to promote your brand than by choosing a product your clients and customers will use everyday? That customers will be putting right by their faces everyday?! That, my friends, is an unbeatable brand presence. Browse for ideas here.
Pens are pretty straightforward. Simple, but effective. Pens come in so many flavors, it’s not even worth touching on in this entry. When it comes to pens and pencils, all you need to know is that if you can dream it, you can do it. Businesses have been promoting themselves with pens for decades, so sometimes it can help to get a little creative with your choice of pen to help stand out from the pack. Regardless of your choice, pens and pencils are products that your customers will use and share with others (expanding your reach even further!).
Tote bags are another favorite. They come in a wide variety of flavors to fit any budget. And they’re useful. Customers find them useful for carrying around just about anything. Today, more and more grocery stores are encouraging shoppers to bring their own bags. The city of Chicago just approved a ban of plastic grocery bags. Want your brand seen? Tote bags are a smart choice, and will only continue to grow in popularity.
Feeling lost on how to best promote yourself? Be like Steven’s dad. Choose a classic!
